O espet\u00e1culo integra o projeto \u00d3peras em Cena, da Funarte MG. O libreto (texto) \u00e9 de Salvatore Cammarano (complementado por Leone Emanuele Bardare), com base no romance <em>El Trovador<\/em>, do espanhol Antonio Garc\u00eda Guti\u00e9rrez. Conta a hist\u00f3ria de uma cigana condenada \u00e0 morte na fogueira, pela pr\u00e1tica de \u201cbruxarias\u201c, e injustamente acusada de provocar uma doen\u00e7a em um dos filhos de um conde. Antes de morrer, a cigana pede vingan\u00e7a \u00e0 filha. Em <em>O Trovador<\/em>, \u00e9 a dan\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>A meta principal do projeto \u00e9 difundir o Miniteatro \u2014 que reproduz, com detalhes, os ambientes t\u00edpicos das \u00f3peras de s\u00e9culos passados, quando o g\u00eanero art\u00edstico era muito popular. Essa obra de arte foi idealizada e constru\u00edda na d\u00e9cada de 1960, pelo ex-tenor Carlos Jos\u00e9 Villar. Nos anos 1980, ap\u00f3s a morte do artista, a fam\u00edlia doou o trabalho para o acervo da Funda\u00e7\u00e3o.
